The International Microbiology Congresses of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) are taking place once within 4 years. The 16th International Congress of Virology was organized in Montréal, Canada, from July 27 to August 1, 2014.

 

It was organized in parallel with the 14th International Congress of Bacteriology and Applied Microbiology and the 14th International Congress of Mycology and Eukaryotic Microbiology. More than 2000 participants from 87 countries were taking part in this event.

Two researchers of Baltinfect project had participated in the 16th International Congress of Virology and presented the results of the investigation done in Riga Stradiņš University and disseminated the information on Baltinfect project:

  • „VIR-PT2031 - Involvement of human herpesvirus-6 infection in the development of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and encephalopathy osteoarthritis development”,
  • „VIR-PM2039 Human parvovirus B19 infection and rheumatoid arthritis clinical course”
